FCARHUWINT4 credits This class will focus on navigating various discourses (both popular and academic) and finding opportunities to engage in productive ways. Over the course of the semester, we will attempt to develop an intellectual curiosity that extends beyond any particular subject matter and involves the researching and writing processes themselves. A central goal of the class is to cultivate writing and thinking habits that can transfer to other collegiate and professional arenas. To this end, we will be doing a lot of writing and communicating in this class. Repetition is central to skill acquisition, so there will be writing exercises in almost every class meeting. You will be able to build off of these in-class exercises and use them as launching pads for your major essays. Day-to-day, we will discuss relevant and compelling texts in a variety of genres and respond in writing.
