MUSY 138 - The Broadway Musical

A survey of the American Broadway musical from the late 19th to the 21st centuries. Topics will include operetta, the early 20th-century musical comedy, Black musical theater, the integrated musical, the concept musical, mega musicals, jukebox musicals, and recent developments in the genre. Required performances and viewings outside of class. All students in the conservatory and the college are welcome.

Prerequisites: ESOL 130 (for students in ESOL sequence).
