HIST 416 - The World Upside Down: Abolitionism in AmericaFC SSCI CD WADV 4 credits As slavery grew and expanded throughout the United States following the American Revolution, so too did an increasingly vocal and active anti-slavery movement. This historiography course is designed to foster a deeper understanding of the dramatic social, religious, and political movements known as abolitionism that developed throughout the antebellum period and beyond the end of the American Civil War. Therefore, students should expect intense reading, archival research, and discussion to demonstrate their advanced critical analysis. Field trip(s) required.
