PACE 108 - Music Advocacy and AdministrationHC CNDP 2 credits This course will explore music advocacy alongside a study of structures, governance and administrational capacities of non-profit music organizations. Defining musician-citizens’ roles as advocates, students develop basic skills for thinking, researching, and writing about music in the context of cultural and political life. Topics include principles of arts advocacy, public policy priorities, and how to effectively advocate for music access in various settings. Additional topics include community and power, defining objectives, goals, and strategies, and the importance of engaging with elected officials. Students will identify effective advocacy practices and execute a plan strategizing desired goals and outcomes.
