DANC 226 - Queering Choreography

FC ARHU CD
4 credits
This introductory course uses dance and choreography to explore questions about gender, race, power, and sexuality. With the premise movement is a way of theorizing, we’ll learn how performance and society can express or sometimes (mis)interpret identities and narratives through hands-on movement-making. Every week, we’ll create choreography to deepen our understanding of the capabilities and limitations of dance and bodily expression. Theme, variation, and collaboration explorations will help us reflect and alter our perceptions and craft. Our goal will be to develop skills to use dance to express and examine contemporary topics related to queer identity.
