ANTH 418 - Environ/mental HealthFC SSCI CD 4 credits As climate change, disasters, and environmental degradation become urgent issues, the field of environmental health has evolved to address the health consequences of environmental change. This course examines health practices and interventions, particularly around mental health, that are emerging to address environmental change. How are health and well-being for humans and their environments negotiated at the intersection of environmental change and mental health? How do mental health practices conceptualize, scale, and evaluate changes in the environment and their effects? We will explore the potentials and limitations of emerging mental health practices in reshaping health and well-being, the environment, and everyday life in a world of climate change and unending disasters.
