WRCM 307 - Writing about the ArtsFC ARHU WADV 4 credits This course will emphasize the practical application of writing in various contexts within the world of the practicing arts, ranging from artist statements, curatorial statements, and exhibition reviews to critical essays and catalog essays. The course also guides students toward their own best practices in developing a robust writing practice, essential for success in obtaining grants, employment and residency opportunities, and building networks of support inside and outside of their respective artistic communities. The course offers students a rich exploration of the critical role that writing plays for practitioners across artistic and creative disciplines, giving students the opportunity to develop habits and practices that will aid them in articulating their own artistic vision, responding to others’ work, and engaging with the broader arts community at Oberlin and beyond.
