CRWR 307 - The Art of Podcasting

In recent years, podcasting has emerged as a popular and engaging form of storytelling. Currently, there are tens of thousands of podcasts that explore a variety of themes, topics, and sociopolitical issues. In this course we will focus on the narrative elements of this art form by examining a range of established fiction and nonfiction podcasts. We will consider how a podcast is developed and later marketed, from its initial conception to its final product, as well as the technical aspects of the craft, including editing and sound design. Students will experiment in this medium over the course of the semester by creating a plan for their own podcast series and producing one episode, which will be workshopped in class.

Prerequisites: Two 200-level courses in CRWR
