HIST 372 - Reckoning with Reconstruction, 1863-Present

FC SSCI
4 credits
This research seminar takes an expansive view of the American Reconstruction Era from its origins in 1863 during the American Civil War to its end in 1877 while considering its continued impact on society, politics, and law today. Students will conduct individual historical research projects using primary and secondary source research. They will visualize and present that research in a digital humanities project along with a paper that presents their historically-based research and visualization methods, analysis, and interpretation. Locating and using primary sources is mandatory. Students will create a research and digital project proposal and share their progress and results in class. Students should be familiar with the American Civil War.
