CRWR 259 - Fiction in Verse

What happens when the worlds of prose and poetry collide? In what ways can the poetic format enhance the way we tell stories? How do these two genres operate together in creating one work? In this course, students will work to uncover the answers to these questions and more. Through reading selections of published fiction in verse, we will study elements of form, plot, imagery, voice, and characterization. Students will compose their own fiction in verse and workshop them with the class. A significantly revised portfolio will be submitted at the end of the semester.

This course is appropriate for new students.
