PSYC 435 - Seminar in Stereotypes, Prejudice, and DiscriminationFC SSCI WADV 4 credits This seminar examines psychological research and theory on stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination against minority populations. Students will learn about the formation and maintenance of stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination, particularly in the U.S. The course will delve into aspects of identity such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, ability, gender, sexuality, religion, and the intersection of marginalized identities. Course topics may include (but are not limited to) intersectionality, systemic racism, transphobia, xenophobia, heterosexism, ableism, and economic discrimination.
Prerequisites: PSYC 100 and PSYC 218.
