CIME 174 - American Cinema 1977-1990

This course is about American Cinema from 1977-1990. It explores the art of cinema in this period as well as the transformation of the movie industry and the changing cultural landscape in which cinema exists. We will focus on the action and genre movies that emerged in this era, the “indie” (independent) cinema movement that became an important factor in American movies, and the new directions in cinema marked by women and Black filmmakers.

This course is appropriate for new students.
