HIST 336 - Women and International Relations, 1400-1900
FCSSCICDWADV4 credits This course explores the centrality of women to the practice of international relations. Through the close analysis of primary sources, students will consider the complex connections between gender, kinship, race and political power, and examine the diverse places, spaces, and modes through which women influenced international relations. We will also study the theories and methods adopted by scholars to reconstruct women’s stories in historical archives, particularly those of Indigenous and enslaved women.
