MUSY 239 - Music and DanceFC CNDP DDHU 4 credits This course explores the development of western music and concert dance, beginning with the Renaissance and concluding with contemporary works. Through critical reading, listening, viewing, and occasionally even moving, students will become familiar with this repertoire and influential theories of music-movement analysis, criticism, and interpretation. In addition to considering ballets as musical, choreographic, and aesthetic objects, students will also examine their cultural-political significance including issues related to gender, sexuality, race, class, disability, and the body.
