MUSY 354 - Music Since 1950FC CNDP DDHU 4 credits The last seventy-five years have been marked by unprecedented technological innovation as well as dramatic social change. This course will consider the musical response to and engagement with these seismic shifts in Europe and the United States. Exploring a variety of diverse stylistic currents including serialism, fusion, minimalism, and neo-tonality in symphonic and chamber music as well as contemporary opera, this course will also examine the impact of recorded music on composition and the tension this technology has created between impulses to innovate and preserve.
