Mexican cinema’s “conquest of Hollywood” emphasizes the “Three Amigos,” the directors del Toro, Cuarón, and González Iñárritu. But a more international image comes through if we focus on the career of actor Gael García Bernal, with some roles in Hollywood but also beyond, creating iconic performances that help define global cinema since 1998. Films will include Amores Perros, Y Tu Mamá También, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Science of Sleep, Babel, and Mozart in the Jungle. Taught in English.
