HCARHU2 credits A good audio story does more than just convey information. It whispers in the listener’s ear and lodges in their memory. Students in this narrative storytelling course will combine precise writing, compelling interviews, sound, scene and narrative to produce creative and compelling audio documentaries. Regular readings and listening sessions will explore style, ethical issues, and innovative models of audio storytelling in the digital landscape. The focus of this course is on storytelling. Through instruction in writing for the ear, in-person interviewing, field recording, and multi-layered audio production, students will develop a sensibility for narrative storytelling and the skills to produce their own audio stories and podcasts. Seniors can enroll only once the semester begins.
