As we grow up, we consume a lot of media. We tend to think less critically of the media we consume as children because we look back on through the lens of nostalgia. In this course, we will analyze Percy Jackson and the Olympians and its sequel series, Heroes of Olympus through a more critical lens. Each week, we will focus on one or two characters, their arc and development, and their purpose in the wider story. As a class, we will discuss our thoughts on the major characters of both series and their impact on each other and the events of the books. By the end of this course, you will have an in-depth understanding of the Percy Jackson universe and may find that your opinion on some characters has changed. This course will encourage you to think critically of nostalgic media and appreciate Jason Grace.
