EXCO 613 - SwiftCo

2 credits
Love Taylor Swift? Hate Taylor Swift? Either way, it’s undeniable that she is one of the most famous celebrities in the world, and a certified music legend. The purpose of this course is to examine Taylor Swift’s life and work through a critical lens. The class will focus on analysis of her music and lyrics, the intersections between her public and personal lives, and her larger role as a contemporary cultural figure. We will move chronologically through every album, with each week including in-depth discussion of the album, discussions of the larger cultural context of Taylor Swift’s work, and discussions of celebrity culture, gender, and media as a whole.
