EXCO 705 - UpCyclingCo

This class will be an introductory course to upcycling! We will be using the Free Store as our main resource for textiles. The Free Store is run by the Resource Conservation Team (RCT). We are a student-run team that aims to reduce waste and promote environmental sustainability and awareness through food rescue, the J-House garden, and other initiatives. We will cover everything from hand-mending to basic machine sewing. Students will learn about a variety of topics, including but not limited to: collecting materials and giving them a new life; learning a history of fiber arts; learning basic mending and constructing techniques; and slowing down, relaxing, and practicing self-care through crafting.
