EXCO 120 - Investment Banking Co 2 credits The Investment Banking Co offers a comprehensive introduction to the dynamic field of investment banking, designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required for careers in the industry. The course targets underclassmen, particularly sophomores (Class of 2027), but is open to all students passionate about pursuing a career in Investment Banking. Throughout the course, students will be exposed to core topics such as financial statement analysis, valuation methodologies including discounted cash flow (DCF) and leveraged buyout (LBO) analysis, and the process of mergers and acquisitions. Emphasis is placed on practical skills, preparing students for the competitive investment banking recruitment process through resume and cover letter workshops and behavioral and technical interview preparation. Students will engage in weekly Wall Street Journal write-ups and undertake three significant homework assignments that include resume building, alumni informational interviews, and financial analysis. The course culminates in a group case study where students apply their learning to a real-world scenario. Active participation and collaborative learning are the center of our course’s goal. This course not only builds technical expertise but also fosters a cohort of tight-knit, like-minded students, ensuring students are well-prepared for internships and entry-level positions in investment banking.
