EXCO 619 - JoniCo 1 credit Joni Mitchell is one of the best things to come out of music. Her deeply relatable and raw lyricism, as well as her beautiful and precisely executed production, have earned her a legacy as one of the most influential female singer/songwriters of the 20th century. This course will provide those interested with an outlet to appreciate, listen to, and discuss Mitchell’s music and career (1968-1980). Students will leave JoniCo with a deeper understanding and appreciation for Mitchell and her music, as well as an understanding of the context in which the songs were written. Through this course, students will be able to better understand Mitchell’s profound impact on the music world and feelings of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
