EXCO 708 - Intermediate Pottery ExCo

1 credit
This course has been made for folks who are semi well-versed in the basics of throwing (coning, centering, pulling walls, trimming, burnishing, etc.) but wish to continue past the basics and onto forming an individual style, working on higher-level techniques (collaring, handle pulling, etc.), throwing larger pieces, throwing thinner pieces, and replication throwing. The main objective of this course is for each student to be able to throw a variety of kinds of bodies on the wheel. This means finding their comfort zone and walking past it, allowing others to critique their works, and allowing themselves to make many, many mistakes and continue to make those mistakes until they gain comfort and confidence in new techniques. Another goal of this class is to use as much clay needed to grow as a potter, and for students to not judge themselves in their failures.
