EXCO 777 - Letterpress ExCo

The Letterpress ExCo will provide basic, supervised instruction in the art of hand typesetting and hand printing. After an initial orientation, students will meet once a week, for 6 meetings, for 3+ hours for instruction, and then schedule ample press time to complete the remainder of their commitment working on their own projects which can be expected to take 10 to 20 hours to complete. There are no prerequisites, but students should enjoy working with their hands, be sensitive to fine detail, and have an interest in the Book Arts or History of the Book. Supplies will be provided; however, students wishing to use a specific kind of paper for printing should be prepared to provide this themselves. Students should also be prepared to generate design ideas for designated projects.
