EXCO 463 - NovelCo 1 credit Many aspiring writers are daunted by the prospect of writing a novel, or any other type of long-form fiction. However, it doesn’t have to be that scary! The goal of this class is to empower students to complete their own long-form fiction projects, first by introducing them to tried and true storytelling tools as they develop their own projects, and then by providing support and community while students set out to actually write their projects in the third month of the course. (Students may be interested in participating in NaNoWriMo which coincides with the third month of the course, although that will not be required). By the end of this course, students will have an understanding of how to construct a well-written novel, as well as experience applying their new knowledge to their own projects. They will also have experience working within a community of writers, exchanging ideas as they develop their stories, and supporting each other through the writing process.
