EXCO 538 - Workshop in Performing Arts

In this course, we want to build a workshop space and community in which students can bring performance excerpts to class each week to receive feedback from their fellow ExCo students. The first half of class will additionally be open to the public, in the style of jazz forum; this will allow students to invite their friends, and to have even more opportunities for feedback on their work. For the first half of the semester while studying the history of performance art, students can perform any work they have for class, however polished or unpolished it may be. It can be part of a greater project, or just a tidbit of something you may want to showcase. In the second half of the semester, we will transition into bringing in an excerpt from the same project each week, so the feedback can be cumulative in working towards a finished piece. This course is an opportunity for students to either workshop something they are already planning to work on independently, or to create new things for this class - or a bit of both!
