EXCO 156 FA - SexCo

2 credits
SexCo is a comprehensive sexual education course taught by staffers at the Sexual Information Center (SIC). We discuss topics such as consent, pregnancy, abortion, STIs, anatomy, BDSM, sex work, bioessentialism, boundaries, disability theory, reproductive justice and alternative justice models, and more. While we aim to provide a basic grounding in sex ed, we also center marginalized folks both through which topics we cover, and our intersectional analysis present in the entire course. We encourage all students of all class years to apply but SexCo is open to Oberlin community members, alums and anyone interested in the material. This course is offered for 0 or 2 credits. It is required (along with taking roleplays) for students who wish to apply to become SIC Staffers in the future. If taken as a two credit course, please note that only two absences are allowed, as per ExCo guidelines. This spring, SexCo will be a remote-accessible, although mainly an in-person course. Masks are required. This is a discussion-based ExCo. All readings will be sent in pdf form ahead of time. For participation, a notebook/writing utensil or laptop to write down any thoughts or notes is encouraged! We also frequently do worksheets and free-writes in class, so please bring whatever you need to complete those as well.
