CRWR 208 - Queer Futures, Queer BodiesFC ARHU CD WINT PRAX 4 credits Speculative fiction-which includes horror, sci-fi, fantasy, alternate history, and magical realism-disrupts the what is in the favor of what if. It is a powerful allegorical medium to imagine both dystopian and hopeful futures for queer bodies-too often contested in the present world.
Readings include queer spec fic and body horror, and may include film and graphic novel narratives. Assigned media include American and non-American interpretations of queer bodies and identities. Students complete semi-weekly writing assignments based on the readings, and each student will have the opportunity for two workshops of a full-length piece.
