FYSP 045 - How To Use Your Body to Survive College (and Write Brilliant Essays)
FCARHUWINT4 credits What does breathing have to do with attention? How can we use our vision to understand point of view? What can our bones teach us about the structure of a paper? What does it feel like to ‘take a stand’ on a contentious issue? Bridging the mind and body divide so pervasive in academia, this course centers the phenomenology of embodied experience as the ground for critical writing. We will explore a series of perceptual exercises and writing practices that will help students craft thoughtful essays on a variety of contemporary topics.
