CRWR 231 - The Practice of Poetry: Rituals, Procedures, Remixes, and Constraints
FCARHUWINTPRAX4 credits In this course, we’ll examine a variety of compositional processes used by contemporary poets and their predecessors, analyze how their methods affect the outcomes of their poems, and try out these methods ourselves, considering how the production of our own poems influences their aesthetics and meaning. By the end of the course, students will design their own poetic practice based on the models we’ve encountered and will write a mini-chapbook using their process.
