FCCNDPCD4 credits This course uses music to open a window of understanding into the fight for Indigenous survivance (survival and resilience). Featuring a different Indigenous artist each week working in genres ranging from hip hop to art music, spoken word, and jazz, we will examine issues such as settler colonialism, Indigenous sovereignty, landback, water rights, government policies, and other pressing issues. Our investigation will be driven by such questions as: What role can music play in social movements? What genres of music are most effective? And, how can we use the knowledge we gain to contribute to the fight for Indigenous sovereignty?
