This course explores the poem as a living, material, and hybrid form. Moving beyond the singular printed page, this class will investigate poetry’s intersections with visual art, music, performance, book arts, and movement. What happens to a poem when it asks to be reinvented with every reading? How do we write with the body, with objects, with sound? We will discuss the work of poets that blur the boundaries between disciplines, and respond by building our own hybrid creations. Expect to build, record, perform, and invent.
