DANC 125 - Devising Design

An interdisciplinary approach to creating original performance, this course will provide a grounding in the basic function and vocabulary of stage design essentials-lighting, sound, video, and scenic-and how these elements support physical performance. Class will include practical instruction, creative projects both in and out of class, and discussions on the role of ‘plastic theater’ elements in performance phenomenology. The course will culminate in a final devised project incorporating design elements as collaborators. It is appropriate for students with minimal technical or performance experience, but open to all levels of design familiarity.

This course is appropriate for new students.
