DATA 320 - Essentials of EpidemiologyFC NSMA CD QFR 4 credits This course will provide an overview of the general principles, methods, and applications of epidemiology. Outbreak investigations, measures of disease frequency, standardization of disease rates, study design, measures of association, hypothesis testing, bias, effect modification, causal inference, disease screening, and surveillance. Case studies will apply these concepts to a variety of infectious, acute, and chronic health conditions affecting the population. Additionally, this class will offer insight into public health practice at the local level.
Prerequisites: NSCI 103 or BIOL 135 or BIOL 047. This course is cross-listed with GLBH-320
