The works of Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Milton have had an outsized influence on the English literary tradition. This course will introduce some of the major works: Chaucer’s Troilus and Criseyde (read in modern translation), several of Shakespeare’s plays, and selections from Milton’s Paradise Lost.
