ENGL 372 - Contemporary Literary Theory: Post-Modernity and ImaginationFC ARHU WINT 4 credits The underlying theme of this course is the convergence of postmodern theory, art, and technology, and what is happening in the era of the digital, more or less “the rise of the machine” and the dawn of what some people call the era of the post-human. The course has a historical dimension moving from 1960 to the present. We pay attention to the place of the academy in the changes in art and its uses because in the twentieth century the academy became an important, if sometimes confused, part of the history of art.
Prerequisites: CINE 290 or ENGL 275/CMPL 200 or ENGL 299 or two 200-level courses in ENGL. Undergraduate Research Intensive This course is cross-listed with CIME-372, CMPL-372
