THEA 301 - Acting III: Epic Performance

FC ARHU
4 credits
This course empowers actors to meet the physical, emotional, and linguistic demands of performing epic characters from the classic canon, with a focus on Shakespeare and the Greeks. Through rigorous physical training inspired by the Suzuki Method and expansive vocal work grounded in Linklater technique, students cultivate strength, precision, and expressive freedom. Detailed textual analysis and embodied practice combine to unlock the athletic language and emotional breadth of canonical roles. By semester’s end, students will command greater scope, scale, and confidence in performance. Admission requires a brief audition and interview.

Prerequisites: THEA 200.
