The is a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) lab designed to introduce students to the research process: identifying knowledge gaps, developing hypotheses, writing a mini research proposal, and conducting a semester-long research project. Students will gain mastery in a variety of cellular, biochemical, and molecular approaches used to investigate the effects of xenobiotics on the nervous system. Labs will include topics such as the generation of dose-response curves following xenobiotic treatment, the examination of oxidative stress, protein aggregation, mitochondrial biogenesis, and other cellular pathways using cultured mammalian cells. Occasionally, students will be required to work outside the scheduled lab period.
