ARBC 101 - Beginning Arabic IFC ARHU CD 4 credits This course provides a thorough introduction to Arabic language and culture and presumes no previous knowledge of Arabic. The course begins with the Arabic writing system, sound system, and basic conversational structures. Instruction is fully integrated across listening, speaking, reading, and writing, introducing essential vocabulary and cultural contexts from the outset. Throughout the semester, students develop their ability to communicate about familiar topics including introductions, family, study, and weather. By the end of the semester, students will have reached the Novice Mid/High level of proficiency in Arabic based on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. At this proficiency level, students can use memorized words, phrases, and simple sentences to convey information about familiar topics and social interactions.
