HISP 318 - Inverted Utopias: Latin American Avant Garde LiteratureFC ARHU CD 4 credits This is a multidisciplinary study of the Latin American avant-garde movements from the first half of the 20th century. At its core, we will analyze the foundational manifestos of various avant-garde movements, dissecting their proposed aesthetic and philosophical ruptures. This analysis requires the integration of concepts and debates from fields like history, psychology, philosophy, religion, politics, and gender studies. Our goal is to develop a rigorous and enriched understanding of Latin American avant-garde artistic and literary production. Taught in Spanish.
Prerequisites: HISP 304. This course is appropriate for new students based on placement exam.
