FYSP 087 - Videogames and PoliticsFC SSCI WINT 4 credits The worldwide videogame market generated $522.5 billion in revenue in 2024 - yet videogames have rarely been taken seriously as an art form worthy of study. This course treats them as cultural artifacts that both reflect and shape the politics of their time. Through a multi-disciplinary lens, we will examine the structure of the videogame industry and the ethical challenges it faces, then turn to critique individual games as cultural objects - asking how a game encodes, responds to, or transforms the society that produced it.
