THEA 336 - Scene Design II: Props Design for Stage and Screen

A project-based class that explores the process of designing and creating properties and puppets for use on stage and screen. Students will engage in the creative process in response to prompts both in collaboration and individually. The process will include research, the generation of multiple ideas, communicating those ideas with sketches and scale models, exploration of different materials and processes, as well as sculpture, mold-making, papier-mache, sewing, and carpentry. Hands-on learning of techniques and skills will be augmented by visits from working Props Artisans to provide opportunities to gain knowledge of professional practices.

Prerequisites: THEA 236.
