MUTH 262PT - Questioning Genius

This course questions who is allowed to be a genius, and explores what it takes to be considered a genius. It studies music by so-called geniuses from a wide variety of genres, focusing on developing analytical skills appropriate to each genre. Students will engage with questions of form, bass lines, melody, and timbre. They will also develop a deeper understanding of canon formation. (This course offers the Post-Tonal (PT) attribute.)
