GEOS 330 - Sedimentology and StratigraphyFC NSMA QFR 4 credits This course examines modern sedimentary processes and environments, and compares them to their ancient counterparts at scales of grains to basins. We will analyse the Earth’s stratigraphic record to recognize past depositional systems, patterns of environmental change, and the rise and fall of sea level. Strong emphasis is placed on practical, hands-on approaches that integrate lessons, labs with samples, and field analyses. Tentative field trips include the Ohio’s core repository in Columbus (subsurface rocks from wells) and local outcrops. Field trip(s) required.
Prerequisites: Any one of the following: GEOS 201, GEOS 204, GEOS 206, GEOS 210, or GEOS 212.
