ARST 855 - Introduction to Humor as Material: Play, Power, and RiskFC ARHU 4 credits Artists use humor to shape meaning, disrupt expectations, and redirect attention to uncomfortable truths. Their jokes often point to abuses of power and injustice, raising serious questions about themselves, life, and the world around them. In this course, students explore humor as a serious artistic tool through individual projects and group exercises. In digital and time-based media projects, students will engage with timing, incongruity, scale, and creative risk.
This course is appropriate for new students.
