GSFS 365 - End Stage: Performing Health and Inequality

FC ARHU CD
4 credits
This course explores theater and performance as critical tools for understanding health, illness, and inequality. Situated in Critical Health Humanities, the course examines how racialized and gendered health disparities are produced, represented, and challenged through performance. Drawing on performance studies, critical race theory, feminist theory, and queer theory, students use embodied and performative methods to analyze texts and translate theory into practice. Emphasizing the body as a site of knowledge and power, the course treats performance as both method and critique. No prior performance experience required. First-time performers are welcome and encouraged to enroll. Recommended preparation: GSFS 265.

Prerequisites: One Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies Major/Minor Gateway Course.
