NSCI 425 - Senior Seminar Neurobiology of Mental IllnessFC NSMA WADV 4 credits Mental health conditions afflict millions of individuals and are leading cause of disability. This seminar-based course will explore how mental health conditions are defined and categorized. In addition, students will review current research on the biological bases of the clinical symptoms of mental health disorders and the treatment strategies aimed at alleviating these symptoms. Topics may include psychoses, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, personality disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Students will explore these topics through class discussions, presentations and writings. This format is designed to emphasize critical analysis of recent research. This course is restricted to senior NSCI majors only.
