EVSS 245 - Planetary health: the human health impacts of the environmental crisisFC NSMA 4 credits Planetary health is a new interdisciplinary field that offers a framework to understand and quantify the human health impacts of global environmental change, including climate change, pollution of air and water, land use change, and biodiversity loss. Students will learn processes driving environmental change and unequal impacts on human health, including nutrition, infectious and non-communicable disease, displacement, and mental health. Planetary health also provides a way of thinking about both targeted solutions and broader social transformations designed to protect both human and Earth system health, which students will analyze using a case study method.
