PSYC 318 - Advanced Methods in Programming Experiments for the Study of CognitionFC NSMA QFR 4 credits This is a joint course for Computer Science, Psychology, and Neuroscience students exploring the application of basic programming skills to cognition research. Having a background in computer science is an increasingly useful skill in the fields of Psychology and Neuroscience, but using this background is a skill in itself. Programming is often necessary for designing experiments, including presenting stimuli and counterbalancing conditions. For example, memory experiments often involve presenting stimuli in different sequences or contexts. In this course, students will build on their knowledge in Computer Science, Psychology, and/or Neuroscience by learning to design and implement simple experiments in PsychoPy.
Prerequisites: CSCI 150 and (PSYC 100 or NSCI 201).
