EAST 312 - Her-stories: Rethinking His-story of Early Modern East AsiaFC ARHU CD 4 credits Focusing on her stories, this course revisits early modern East Asia from one of the non-dominating perspectives to challenge both the authorized “truth” and its simple opposite. Through introducing a rich array of materials viewed from her eyes, such as major political events and figures, state ideologies and their practical utilizations, troubled masculinity and unsettled gender demarcation, bodily estrangements and embodied knowledge, and revolution and modernization, this course intends to bring to the students a world that was true to her life in early modern East Asia.
